Ok, here’s a post for something that has bothered me ever since entering the professional work environment. To all of my readers that have a desk phone; you know that little red light that alerts you of a voicemail? Are you guilty of never listening to that voicemail and just leaving that red light lit?
If you are, shame on you! That message could be important! More importantly, that bright, vivid red light is extremely annoying and painful to my eyes. How can you work with that heat beacon of red shining into your retinas? Just take the time to listen to your message and extinguish that firey glow of nuclear red. Those of you guilty know who you are…haha!
Now that I have an iPhone I feel that I have to defend Apple every time someone asks about it. I am a man with fierce loyalties and I happen to think that Apple should be paying me for my support.
The iPhone combines Function with Sexy (my two favorite things). It blows the other phones out of the water in style and is incredibly intuitive. I saw a Monkee using one in the Apple store in the KoP Mall last week.
Look, I know Apple charges an arm and a leg for this device, and I know I should have waited to get one, just like how I should wait until after Christmas to get a treadmill. The short and skinny of it is that I simply could not wait. I fulfilled my instant urge, and am now a proud member of The Elite iPhone Club. Nokia’s got nothing on us!
One of the perks of being in The Elite iPhone Club, is that you get an inside look at all the creative marketing ads for the iPhone. I’ve seen so many different approaches and marketing ideas to promote the iPhone that I just had to share my favorite with you.
Most of you know that I have a new job. Instead of everyone asking me “Hey Brook - How’s the new job going?” I decided to just post my comments on this world wide web thing. The answer to that very question is simple. FABULOUS!
The new job is going extremely well. The people I work with are great and everyone is very laid back. It is such a relief to finally be doing creative work again. I have missed it so much and am literally thrilled to be doing what I love [creating beautiful aesthetics] on a regular basis again.
The workspace is also very appealing. The building is very reminiscent of a gymnasium, without all the sweat and funk of course. The ceilings are very high and it gets very cold in there. I find myself layering a lot more than I used to. It is, after all, wintertime…
Please enjoy some photos of my new work space. Cheers!
- 4 layers are better than 2.
- Garnish everything.
- You can clean your kitchen after the cake is prepared.
- Never under-estimate chocolate.
- Always make a test cake.
I watched the premier of Bionic Woman tonight. IĀ was not impressed.
Ok, you have a whole hour to fill! Robocop didn’t even become bionic until the first half hour, let alone 18 minutes PLUS 2 commercial breaks! Speaking of RoboCop, I like how the bad guy that drops the F-Bomb all the time in RoboCop has a lead role. Gimme some back story! Let me feel something for the lead character before you give her bionic parts!
It honeslty reminded me of Episode III, when they rushed the end to create Darth Vader. I wanted to see the mechanical parts in detail. I wanted to see some mechanical body parts before they were put into the body. I wanted to see these parts inserted in graphic detail - they do it on CSI!
The concept of a bionic woman is extremely intriguing. I’ve always said, “If I ever lose a limb, I want it to be replaced with a bionic part.” This could have been done a lot better. What’s with all the horrible acting? Make it more real. The entire episode felt like a soap opera instead of a series. I know there are more episodes to come, but seriously, re-evaluate your beginnings. Look at popular shows like the first season of Lost, where you get each person’s backstory one at a time per episode. Develop the show, don’t just jump into it. Build your fan base and expand on it. Let me relate to the main character.
I might give you a secondĀ chance next week Bionic Woman, but if you let me down again, we’re through. I should have watched the end of the Phillies game…
This is by far my favorite commercial running right now. It features a joyful, 4-armed woman robot that dances around to a futuristic techno beat with a Heineken Draught Keg in her belly. This techno beat is called “Robot Repair” by Kael Alden & Doug Darnell.
Not only do the folks at Heineken know how to make a great beer, but they obviously know how to market it to a new, young crowd. You can visit www.heinekendraughtkeg.com and gain all the information you need to know about the DraughtKeg, and play around on their interactive site. You can actually upload your face and it will be put on a robot and dance around to the wonderful beat found in the commercial.
I believe this marketing idea to be a wonderful one. Anytime you can get people to physically interact with your brand, you score major points with your market. Granted, the idea of uploading a picture of your face and watching it dance around on the same robot to the same song seems a bit childish and can serve as an enormous waste of time, but it builds brand recognition. Think of all the college kids standing in line at their local beer distributor staring at the lit up refrigerators that hold hundreds of different types of beer. They’ll start humming that sweet “Robot Repair” beat and purchase the DraughtKeg or a whole a case. Mission accomplished. Thank you, Heineken.
I have actually had the privileges of drinking beer from a DraughtKeg and happen to think it is a wonderful creation. It’s easy to use, light, and the beer stays cold for a long duration of time. It’s perfect for barbecues and picnics. It also serves as a wonderful companion to a swinging chair and a porch.
If you haven’t heard or seen of this yet, you should definitely look into it. It is absolutely amazing. It takes the detailed maps from Google Maps and integrates them onto a 3-dimensional sphere to represent the earth. You download the free application and in seconds you can “fly” to any location in the world.
One of the coolest new features of Google Earth is that you can now view both the Earth and the Sky. Viewing the Sky means you can view galaxies, planets, constellations, nebulas, etc. It’s a great way to learn about the constellations and planets around our little home, Earth.
